Ruesi / Lersi / Rishi Master Statues

Ruesi (also spelled Reusi, Lersi, or Lersi; from Sanskrit Rishi) are revered ascetic masters in Thai spiritual, folk, and esoteric traditions.

They represent enlightened or highly accomplished ascetics who have attained deep wisdom through meditation, ascetic practices, and mastery of esoteric sciences. The term originates from the Indian Vedic Rishi (“seer” or “sage”), who composed sacred hymns and realized profound truths. In Thailand, this evolved into a distinct cultural figure blending Hindu, Buddhist, animist, and local traditions.
