Unalomes, Sak Yant Thai Tattoo Designs

Unalome, the circle of life and journey to enlightenment.

Sak Yant Tattoo, The Unalome symbol represents the path to enlightenment in the Buddhist culture. The spirals are meant to symbolize the twists and turns in life, and the straight lines the moment one reaches enlightenment or peace and harmony.

It’s not exactly known in which era the Unalome was created. At the same time, the Unalome has been celebrated in Thailand, India, and Nepal. The Unalome is also identified as the Buddha’s eye or the third eye of the Buddha.

The Unalome in Thailand

The Unalome was first seen in Thailand in what is known as the Dvaravati period, where it appears on the Buddha image as a symbol in the center of Phra Nalat (forehead).

Unalome. The circle at the bottom represents the life you live with the many earthly distractions we encounter in our daily lives. As long as you let these things control your life you will go around in circles. It’s the circular bit at the bottom. It could represent anger, lies, deceit, bad feelings, wrong thoughts and influence from people around you. Get rid of these things and you will get on the ever-increasing spiral. The more you do this the better your life will be. Move onto the second part of the symbol above and if you could look down on it from the top, it would look like a coil. This is where you must unravel these bad influences out of your life. The spiral represents the head and spirals around the crown of the scalp until it reaches the top center point of the scalp. The straight line pointing upwards represents the straight path to Enlightenment without any wavering behavior that the Arahants have accomplished.

It is believed the better you get at cutting these negative influences out, you will get to enlightenment much faster, and known as the straight path to Nirvana. It is also believed it will take many life’s and rebirths.

There are lots of many designs of Unalomes.
