Most true masters don’t have their Sam Naks in Bangkok.  Sam Nak, translated to English, means, tattoo office. There are only three I know of which are true Sam Nak. By this, I mean old-style Sam Nak. They have learned the old-style from the real masters and done their time as a disciple. Most of the true masters are based in Pathum Thani. Why? because monk or disciples of Sak Yant Thai tattoos have to do their Sak Yant training at a temple or Sam Nak. The biggest temple is called Wat Bang Phra for the training and is in Pathum Tani.  so many Sam Naks are in this area.

As to date monks are no longer allowed to do it. Just Ajarns, Masters of Sak Yant Thai Tattoos.

Thai government step in and decided that monks cannot be making money from this as it goes against being a Buddhist monk. Only Sak Yant Masters can do it. And that is how it should be. It was never meant for monks to do it. It was first done by Ruesi masters before Buddhism was started. Buddha was a Ruesi master before he started Buddhism. Yant tattoos go back many thousands of years. The Chinese recorded Sak Yant Thai Sacred Tattoos 3000 years ago and a man found in a European glacier 5300 years old had 61 tattoos. Asia is a lot older than in Europe. So I would say tattooing in this style goes back tens of thousands of years.

Sak Yant Thai Tattoo Experience. For the last 15 years, I have worked with masters at all levels. My first in counter was with a self-taught person. I say person because he is not a master or Ajarn, which means teacher. I had a Bamboo bar on the beach in Pak Nam Pran. His lady comes and sits at the bar and shows me a catalog of western tattoos and Thai Sacred tattoos. I was first offered them with the machine and not hand poke but I did learn later he could also do that.  One thing I have learned about tattoos is it is not about how good they are but the story behind them. All tattoos have meaning. I have had good ones and bad ones but I will only get rid of tattoos that have bad memory’s behind them. I talked to him as he does the Thai tattoos in the machine on my back. I learned a lot and ask him to work with me. I had learned a lot about creating websites and think about how we can do business together.  Opening a studio there would not work as there were not enough clients in that area. By 6 months we had a lot of students.  It worked. In that first 6 months, I learned so much about Sak Yant Sacred tattoos as well. I really started to understand it. Some personal things happened to me and had to leave Pak Nam Pran. I had to put my daughter first and moved to Bangkok. When I arrived in Bangkok in a pick up I had rented. I was surrounded by two cars and six people. They snatched the keys out of the steering column and told me that no payments had been made for 3 months on the pickup and they are going to take it. I phoned the English guy who I had rented it from and told him what was happening. He did not know anything about this and told me not to give the pickup to them. But what could I do? There were 6 of them and me and my daughter. In the old days, I would have rammed them, but no, I have to think like a Buddhist person and be good. I also had my daughter with me and should not teach her bad ways. I got them to go to the new house I had rented. We stopped there and they dumped all of my stuff on the street and drove off with many of my documents still in the pickup. I moved into that shit hole and lived there for 6 months. I learned a lot at that time and moved into another building at the entrance of the street.  I opened a shop and called it Bangkok Ink. We also did hair cuts and buy 10 computers and make it into an internet cafe. We had customers but not good. I had a fish tank in there with a large Koi fish and one night it just explode and release all the water into the studio. What a disaster! I take the fish down to the local river and let it go. I thought it is never going to work. I was in a dark place. I moved out of the building and rented another home in the next street. I opened another internet cafe and started again.

Sak Yant Thai Tattoo Experience. I read a lot more about Buddhism and Sak Yant Tattoos. I still at this point did not believe in it. Then I read about the unalome and what it meant. This was my turning point. I put everything into Sak Yant sacred Thai Tattoos. And since then my life has changed. Things have become good and I have met a lot of good people and people who want to change their lives as well. I have many Sak Yant Thai tattoos and plan to get many more.
